Tom Elliott launches defence of Geelong Football Club amid scoreboard funding furore

Tom Elliott has come out swinging at those people blaming Geelong for the angst over the club’s stadium being allocated millions of dollars for a new scoreboard.

$4.1m was allocated in this week’s state budget for a new scoreboard at GMHBA Stadium, while millions of dollars of cancer funding research was slashed, prompting widespread outside.

But Tom believes directly blaming Geelong for the government’s decision on spending is well off the mark.

“Let’s just be clear on this,” he said on 3AW Mornings.

“The decision to cut the cancer funding yet still fund the Geelong Football’s Club new scoreboard is not the fault of Geelong.”
