AFL greats Matthew Richardson and Tony Shaw has questioned Essendon’s public commentary around their aggressive style of play in 2024.

Bombers coach Brad Scott put the ‘Essendon edge’ on the agenda throughout the week, which was on display despite their 30-point loss to Sydney on Saturday night.

But both Richo and Shawry wondered whether Scott made the right call putting the side’s overall style of play on the agenda.

“Do you need to go public with it and put it on the public record,” Matthew Richardson questioned on 3AW Football.

“If you have to go to something to push (effort), I think you have some problems with your leadership,” Tony Shaw added.
