Tony Shaw has an idea to improve the standard of umpiring in the long term

Tony Shaw has called on the AFL to create an umpire academy.

The AFL great said the it would be a good investment in the long run.

“We are still whinging about not having enough umpires, and the level that these umpires adjudicate,” Shawry said on 3AW Friday night football.

“I think it’s time the AFL spent some money on this area.

“We need to get this area better.”
