Tony Shaw says umpires should be allowed to see stats before giving Brownlow votes
There have been calls to allow umpires to see stats before they give Brownlow votes.
Currently, umpires are not allowed to see match stats before they give their votes, but Dwayne Russell told 3AW Football some umpires want that to change.
Dwayne said it could help make the medal less of a “midfielders’ award”.
3AW analyst Tony Shaw said something does need to change.
“The Brownlow, to me, is a joke,” Shaw said.
Shaw said it’s telling that Alex Rance has never polled more than eight votes in a season.
