‘Too hot in the kitchen’ | Robbo targets a champion
Mark Robinson and Tony Shaw have put the heat on Gary Ablett.
The champion Cat was unusually quiet during Geelong’s heavy defeat to Essendon on Saturday, but it wasn’t his low disposal count (17) that caught Robbo’s attention.
Ablett laid just one tackle for the game.
Robbo told Sunday Sport he was hesitant to criticise a player of Ablett’s standing, but the performance couldn’t be ignored.
“It seemed, to me, that it was too hot in the kitchen for Gary,” Robbo said.
“I don’t know if I should say that about a player of his calibre.”
Tony Shaw agreed.
“He looked like he didn’t want to get involved physically,” Shawry said.
“If you don’t tackle as a forward, you’re under the pump to keep your position.”
