‘Top bracket’: Leigh Matthews makes BIG call on Essendon

Leigh Matthews now believes Essendon is in the top bracket of teams in the AFL after their performance against GWS.

Brad Scott’s side fought their way back from a slow start to post a 20-point win, which saw them finish Round 9 in third spot on the ladder.

Leigh said the manner in which the Bombers’ played meant he now rates them even higher than in previous weeks.

“Essendon fought their way back (during the game against GWS) and got on equal terms,” he said on Wide World of Sports.

“I thought to myself – regardless of the result, Essendon are now in that top bracket because they’ve just proven now they’ve been able to fight their way into that group.”
