The big news on day five of trade period was Fremantle appearing to end negotiations with the management of Jesse Hogan.

Mitch Cleary – who broke the story – explained to Trade Wrap why the Dockers ceased their “due diligence” on the deal.

“With Jesse Hogan, Fremantle are seeing a player they want but are not willing to part with two first round picks,” he said.

“I wouldn’t put a line through this completely but I think it’s a long way back from here for both parties to get a deal done.”

Tom Scully sets his sights on Hawthorn

The exodus is seemingly set to continue at the Giants as Tom Scully looks to make a move to Hawthorn.

St Kilda told Macquarie Sports Radio on Friday they had made contract with the gun midfielder but he appears to have his heart set on a move to the Hawks.

Mitch Cleary said reports Hawks were only having to give up a second or third round pick were “crazy” for the talented 27-year-old.

“He’s in the prime of his career,” he said.

“It’ll be staggering considering the (Shiel to Essendon) deal could involve one or two first round picks.

Mitch Cleary has explained how Chad Wingard lands up at the Hawks.

The newsbreaker told Trade Wrap pick 15 and Ryan Burton would have to be used if Alastair Clarkson’s side want to secure him.
