3AW Breakfast sports reporter Jon Anderson has delivered some strong comments in relation to Port Adelaide forward Willie Rioli’s recent reported behaviour.

The AFL have chosen not to fine or suspend Rioli for a threatening message he sent to Western Bulldogs defender Bailey Dale after the match last Saturday, with two more threats emerging in recent days.

“Toby Greene would be sitting at home saying, I would’ve copped a suspension or a really heavy fine,” Anderson said on 3AW Breakfast.

“I’m not a racist person … and I’m very comfortable with my relationship with Indigenous people.

“I have to look at it and say what’s the difference between say Bailey Smith if you want and Willie Rioli? One is Indigenous and one isn’t.”

The journalist claimed the AFL is “extremely conscious” of Indigenous numbers in the game, but said “we don’t need that sort of behaviour”.

“I don’t think the AFL has any choice, but to sanction Willie Rioli in some form,” he said.
