Unlikely Melbourne hero explains origin behind unique nickname

Unlikely Melbourne hero Daniel Turner has explained why his teammates call him ‘disco’.

The 22-year-old defender-turned-forward kicked three goals in the Dees 43-point win over Richmond on ANZAC Day Eve, but the origins behind his unique nickname was all anyone wanted to talk about post-match.

“The nickname came before I got to the Dees,” he explains to 3AW Football.

“My mates back home were taking the piss out of me.”
