How to get through this weekend’s wild weather safely
Victoria has been told to brace itself for a “significant weather event” this weekend.
Up to 300 millimetres of rain has been forecast to fall in some areas from Friday into Sunday.
Melbourne is set to get an entire season’s worth of rain in possibly one day.
Tom Elliott spoke with Tim Wiebusch, Deputy Chief Officer of the Victorian State Emergency Service, who offered a handful of tips to get through this weekend safely.
He said clearing out gutters and anything blocking drains was advisable if possible.
He also recommended cancelling any weekend camping trips or activities on the water.
