Just three weeks after installation, the much-heralded CBD pedestrian crossing countdown timers appear to be malfunctioning.

The timers were installed at the intersection of Spencer and Collins street in mid July.

This morning, Mornings producer Sam Lowcock told Neil the clocks walking away from the station – aren’t working.

“I watched about four set of lights go through, then on the fifth the countdown came back and now it’s gone again,” she said

VicRoads provided Mornings with the following statement:

Due to a minor technical issue, the pedestrian countdown timers at Spencer Street and Collins Street intersection were not functioning as they should this morning

VicRoads engineers have inspected the site and the timers are now operating correctly.
