The shocking incident at Highpoint shopping centre in Melbourne’s west yesterday, has been given an update.

The three teenagers were arrested after entering the centre armed with a machete and have now been charged as part of Operation Eclipse.

Victoria Police Media Officer, John McLaughlin, told 3AW Breakfast, said that the teens are to be brought up on an array of charges in relation to the recent wave of arson attacks in the CBD.

Press PLAY to hear the breakdown of the charges

“They have been charged for multiple counts of burglary, aggravated burglary, criminal damage by fire, attempted criminal damage by fire, committing an indictable offence whilst on bail and more” McLaughlin said.

Operation Eclipse is a specialised police program aimed at targeting those involved in the recent string of attacks on Melbourne’s hospitality venues.
