What Jon Anderson thinks will happen following wildcard finals announcement
3AW Breakfast sports reporter Jon Anderson has given his thoughts on the AFL’s decision to introduce a wildcard finals round from 2026 onwards.
The two wildcard finals matches will take place during the pre-finals bye, and Anderson told Ross and Russ “there’s always a reason for this” in regards to the new format.
“I thought that was a joke,” Ross Stevenson said when he found out the news.

Nine News reporter Tony Jones then had his say on the new format, after Tom Elliott said it was a “good idea”.
“This is incredible Tom, I agree with you,” Jones said.
