Why 23 unanswered goals wasn’t Fremantle’s most damning stat

Mick Warner has slammed Fremantle’s effort in Round 22.
The Dockers were obliterated by Geelong to the tune of 133 points, with the Cats owning just about the entire day.
Geelong had:
- The final 23 goals of the game
- 93 more disposals (391 to 298)
- 43 more inside 50s (73 to 30)
But the Herald Sun journo told 3AW Football there was one stat more damning than all others.
“They lost the tackle count 73 to 61,” Mick said on Sunday.
“How do you lose the tackle count?
“Leigh Matthews used to say: it’s hard to tackle when you’ve got the ball. Geelong had the ball all day yet they out-tackled Fremantle.
“Of those 61 tackles, 11 of them were laid by Lachie Neale.
“I don’t know what the other 21 were doing.”
