Why Matthew Lloyd is taking a raincheck on Essendon

Matthew Lloyd says it’s hard to knock Essendon’s recent run of form, but is reserving judgment on whether the Bombers have made any significant progress until next season.

The Bombers have won four of their past five games, but remain well and truly out of finals contention.

“They should finish strong, but they’re 14th on the ladder,” Lloyd said on 3AW.

“We’ve whacked them when they lose, so you don’t want to keep whacking them when they win, but I’ll judge them strongly again (at) maybe Round 10 next year.

“Can they be 7-3? Because seasons are gone at the midway point all the time.”
