Why Matthew Lloyd isn’t doubting the Tigers

Matthew Lloyd certainly isn’t doubting Richmond heading into September.

The Tigers only just managed to beat Essendon and Western Bulldogs – both sides outside of the top eight – in the lead up to September.

It’s led some to question whether the reigning premier is going as well as this time last year.

However, Lloyd says he thinks the Tigers will go “up a gear” now it’s finals.

“I still think Richmond are still four goals better than any other side and could not have had a better preparation going in,” Lloyd said on 3AW.

The Essendon great was asked whether he thought Hawthorn would beat Richmond in the qualifying final.

“I’ve fallen into Hawthorn to beat Richmond the last two times and they’ve been creamed by Richmond,” he said.
