‘Why now?’: Leigh Matthews questions Leon Cameron’s exit

Leigh Matthews says he can’t understand the timing of Leon Cameron’s resignation as senior coach of the GWS Giants.

Cameron decided to part way from the club earlier this week after 10 years at the helm.

“The only thing I can’t understand is why now?” Matthews pondered on 3AW Football.

“They’re two wins, six losses – so they’re not out of contention to win enough games to play finals.

“Normally when a coach and a club part company, it’s at least halfway through the season, when the mathematics are just impossible.

“Or even further on … I can understand it then.

“It seems really early.”
