Why Patrick Dangerfield wants Gary Ablett to start games on the bench!

Patrick Dangerfield says he’d like to see Gary Ablett Jnr start games on the bench next season.

But there’s logic behind his thinking!

Speaking on Sportsday, Dangerfield said his champion teammate was able to catch the opposition off guard when he didn’t begin games on the ground.

“I think it (his best role) is a mixture of half-forward (and) midfield but probably starting off the bench,” Dangerfield said.

“I thought he played some of his best footy when he sort of came on at the five minute mark, because you effectively have the same time on field, it’s just the rotations how it’s measured.

“I think his game gets better as it goes on.”
