The ‘issue’ with the BoM’s ‘misguided’ rebrand
The Bureau of Meteorology has requested it no longer be referred to the BoM or the weather bureau.
Instead, it wants to be called by its full name in the first instance and ‘the Bureau’ thereafter.
Consumer psychologist from Thinkerbell, Adam Ferrier, says “the Bureau of Meteorology wants to be taken seriously”, but its request to no longer be called the BoM is very unlikely to succeed.
“The BoM trying to change its name is a little bit misguided, I think,” he told Ross and Russel.
“BoM is so easy to say — it’s much easier to say than Bureau of Meteorology.
“The issue with ‘the Bureau’ is it doesn’t have anything to do with meteorology.”
