Former Geelong President Craig Drummond has been unveiled as the new AFL Commission chairman, taking over from Richard Goyder after 15 years at the helm.

Senior sports writer with The Age, Michael Gleeson, was questioned as to what made Drummond the preferred option.

But Gleeson claimed he was the “compromise option”.

“It’s a safe, sort of easy appointment,” Gleeson said on Wide World of Sports.

3AW Breakfast sports reporter Jon Anderson then had his say, stating he spoke to someone recently who worked for Drummond.

“His CV is extraordinary,” Anderson said.
