Will Opening Round interstate leave a ‘flat’ feeling in Melbourne?
Matthew Richardson and Sam McClure are wondering whether beginning the new footy season in New South Wales and Queensland will leave fans in Victoria short-changed.
While all four games of Opening Round are on track for a sell out, the traditional season-opener between Carlton and Richmond has been pushed back until the second week of the season.
“It does feel a little bit flat in Melbourne this week because everyone is in Sydney and Brisbane,” Richardson told Wide World of Sports.

“But I think the appetite (in Melbourne footy in the lead up to the season) is still there.”
