Young Docker requests trade to the Suns

Lachie Weller has reportedly requested a trade to the Suns.

The Age is reporting the young Docker wants to move back to the Gold Coast, where his family lives.

The Weller family moved north from Tasmania when Maverick was drafted by the Suns, although he now plays for St Kilda.

Weller has played 47 games for Fremantle, including every game in 2016 and 2017.

It is believed a trade would involve GWS backman Nathan Wilson moving to the Dockers.

The request will come as a relief for the Gold Coast, which has had trouble retaining players in its first seven years in the AFL.

Adam Saad’s departure to the Bombers was confirmed on Monday.
