Reigning BBL|06 champions Perth Scorchers begin their title defence this afternoon, taking on Sydney Sixers at the SCG.

In what is a re-match of last season’s final, the Scorchers will be looking to replicate that same result and get off the perfect start. Perth are missing both Nathan Coulter-Nile and Jason Behrendorff through back injuries but still boast a formidable side, headlined by bowlers Mitchell Johnson and Andrew Tye.

Conversely, the Sixers went down in heartbreaking fashion on opening night against cross-town rivals Sydney Thunder but there were positive signs despite the loss. Daniel Sams took 4-14 while Nic Maddinson (31) looked composed before being dismissed LBW by Fawed Ahmed.
