‘Held to ransom’: Protesters cop extraordinary spray ahead of planned Australia Day protests

CEO of Lucas Restaurants, Chris Lucas, has launched an extraordinary spray towards protesters ahead of Sunday’s planned protests in the CBD on Australia Day.
Up to 30,000 people are expected in the city this weekend, and Mr Lucas has called on Melbourne’s leaders to “step up to the plate”.
“We, just as general citizens, businesses, Victorians and Melburnians are being held to ransom by a small minority,” Mr Lucas told Tom Elliott on 3AW Mornings.

The Lucas Restaurants CEO said his staff and guests at his restaurants have been harassed and abused by protesters in recent times.
“These people are out to wreck our city,” he said.
Protesters are reportedly planning to target the Australian Open, with Mr Lucas stating Melbourne’s reputation as the sporting capital of Australia is being ruined.
“What this is about is causing as much mayhem and damage to our city, and that is unacceptable,” he said.
