Up to 30,000 people are expected at a mass Melbourne CBD protests this weekend.

Anti-Australian Day and Pro-Palestine protesters are expected to join forces, in a move which is expected to cause mass disprution the CBD on Australian Open finals weekend.

Acting Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO Chanelle Pearson told Ross and Russ the state simply couldn’t afford the costs associated with policing large-scale protests.

“These protests seem to be on another scale,” she said on 3AW Breakfast.

“The cost of policing these protests are heading up to $50 million, our state just can’t afford this given the debt position we’re in.”
