Leigh Matthews has explained why senior coaches in the AFL will always get more “special” treatment than the players.

It comes after Jeremy Finlayson’s suspension for three games for a homophobic slur, while Alastair Clarkson got a $20,000 fine earlier in the pre-season.

“They are treated special,” Matthews said.
