Mike Sheahan’s touching tribute to Robert Walls following his death

Former chief football writer at the Herald Sun and also a former member of 3AW Football, Mike Sheahan, has paid tribute to Robert Walls following his death this morning.
The Carlton icon died aged 74, choosing voluntary assisted dying after a second gruelling fight with blood cancer.
“Even though for those of us who knew this was coming, the realisation that it’s happened, it does it you with a jolt there’s no question about that,” Sheahan said on 3AW Afternoons.

“I don’t think he gets due credit for his playing performances … he’s a genuine legend of the Carlton Football Club.
“I think Wallsy died with Fitzroy as his first love, despite what he achieved at Carlton.”
