3AW/DEBORTOLI PUB OF THE WEEK 2024

Tony Leonard’s Pub of the Week is back!

After a long run (33 years) with Neil, Tony is pleased to be invited to continue the segment with Tony Moclair on Afternoons.

The segment will commence around 1.45 pm on Fridays, and by and large, will concentrate on pubs throughout Melbourne with some fine representation from regional Victoria. One or two pub ‘pub breweries’ will also be visited. Again, this is kindly supported by Vince Gurcuillo and the team at DeBortoli wines, with scoring retained: out of 20.

As regular listeners already know, the food/drink offerings will be more heavily weighted when scoring, but service, cleanliness, welcome which really are the backbone of hospitality will be scrutinised also. Quality of beer, its presentation and interesting wine offerings are fundamental to the lifeblood of a pub.

This year, a scaled down review will appear for each pub (click on the pub as they are listed below) which will outline what you can expect when visiting the venues.

As always, happy to take suggestions of pubs that you have enjoyed and are well worth going there.

With pubs back in full swing, levels of service should be at pre-COVID standards. To that end, and at the sake of repetition, all forms of social media (websites/Facebook/Insta/X) should reflect the present offer from a pub.

Top of this list is pricing: we all know how cost pressures are never greater for both pub and customer and nothing worse than heading off and finding prices are up 15% on what is published on websites.

Looking forward to 2024 and encourage feedback to tony.leonard@nine.com.au — I will answer each of your emails.
