Shaun Smith hits out at the AFL’s ‘toxic’ culture amid explosive drug test allegations

Former Melbourne high-flyer and father of Joel Smith, Shaun Smith, has hit out at the AFL’s “toxic” culture amid allegations of a drug testing cover-up brought to light by former Demons doctor Zeeshan Arain.

Smith’s son Joel tested positive for cocaine last year and is provisionally suspended pending an investigation by Sport Integrity Australia.

“If my son was 17 right at the moment, I’d be saying you’re not going to AFL footy because obviously there’s a bad culture there,” Smith told Tom Elliott.
